Hello! My name is Tilde. I am an English teacher from the United States, so I have a neutral North American accent. I offer private lessons and tutoring, online or in-person in Rome, Italy. I have experience teaching students ages 8 to adult. I am TEFL-certified and have helped students prepare for Cambridge exams. Please see my video below for a short introduction!
I teach with an acquisition-based approach using comprehensible input. For beginners and young learners, lessons include lots of visual materials. For intermediates and beyond, I offer both unstructured conversation and lessons tailored to your individual interests based on real-world English. I create lessons using books, articles from magazines or newspapers, and films/TV, according to what you want to learn.
I believe in natural interactions with a language rather than memorizing rules. For beginner and intermediate learners, I feel confidence and fluency are the most important aspects to focus on. I know from experience that everyone learns differently, so I tailor my lessons to suit my students’ unique personalities and individual strengths.
For advanced learners, I also have over two years of experience as a proofreader and editor for non-native English speakers, so I offer specialized services in written English. I have helped clients with a wide range of texts, from personal statements and admissions essays to immigration applications and PhD theses, as well as academic journal submissions and professional communications. Because I have attended university in both the US and UK, I can provide experienced advice if you are applying to study in those countries.
